About the Journal

DOMINGUEZIA owes its name to the founder and first Director of the current Pharmacobotany Museum of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Prof. Dr. Juan Aníbal Domínguez.

First stage
Volumes 1 to 6 were edited when the direction of the Museum was exercised by Prof. Dr. José Alfredo Caro. During this period, DOMINGUEZIA covered works, mostly of an agrostological nature, related to the system of grasses (Poaceae).

Second stage
Under the direction of Prof. Dr. José Laureano Amorín, DOMINGUEZIA ceased to be a publication intended exclusively to deal with Systematics issues to transform itself and encompass aspects related mainly to medicinal plants from Argentina and neighboring countries.

This second stage began in 1989, when the edition of the magazine was approached with a criterion of gradual redesign of the original publication.

The purpose was to establish a communication channel between researchers dedicated to the study of Pharmacobotany and related disciplines, products derived from medicinal plants, plant biotechnology, legislation and control of natural products, or other topics that provide knowledge of medicinal, toxic, aromatic or food flora.
