Satureja boliviana (Lamiaceae). An update of "muña blanca"

Abstract

A search for documentation related to investigations of phytochemical composition, preclinical and clinical works of the species Satureja boliviana (Benth.) Brig. (Lamiaceae) was carried out, to later associate their most representative activities and present them in action groups. The search included all the studies available on the internet in scientific journals and books, that document its proven effectiveness in use by traditional medicine. 45 bibliographic sources were found that were included and the review was written in sections corresponding to synonyms, botanical description, ethnomedicinal uses, chemical composition, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, interactions, contraindications, legal status and forms of use.
