Catalogue of medicinal and edible plants sold in street stalls in Buenos Aires City during 2019-2020

The Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is the residence of numerous communities, many of which use folk medicine typical of their place of origin. The aim of this research is to carry out a prospective study of the commercialized plants in a place of high traffic of people in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires in order to know the currently used plant species of medicinal and nutritional importance. We worked with street stalls in the neighborhood of Constitución and 57 plant drugs were collected, which were identified based on morphological and micrographic characters. In the analysis of plant parts, a predominance of sterile aerial parts is observed, followed by leaves, fruits and flowery aerial parts. The most commercialized botanical families are Asteraceae, Apiaceae, Verbenaceae, Amaranthaceae and Lamiaceae. This catalog provides the basis for conducting future studies in order to know the indications, contraindications and way of use of the herbal drugs reported here.
